Family Planning

A comprehensive range of contraceptive services is available from your doctor. The practice nurses can supervise the continuation of your HRT or contraceptive pill at a booked appointment for a BP check at which a further prescription may be issued.

Cervical Smears

Smear tests are usually carried out by the practice nurse. We recommend that all women aged between 25 and 65 years who are, or who have been, sexually active have a smear taken regularly. The best time to have a test is about two weeks after the first day of your menstrual cycle.

Obesity Clinic

If you need help to lose weight please make an appointment with the practice nurse.

Asthma, Hypertension, Diabetes, COPD, Heart Disease

Our highly trained practices nurses monitor patients with these conditions. Patients are encouraged to see the nurse at least once a year.

Foreign Travel

We provide a full range of immunisation for travel. Please make an appointment with the practice nurse at least six weeks before foreign travel. Doctors do not give travel immunisations except in exceptional circumstances.
Some vaccines are not available on the NHS. Payment in advance for this service is required.

Yellow Fever Centre

We are an approved Yellow Fever Centre. Yellow fever vaccine is not available on the NHS neither is anti-malaria treatment and you would be asked to pay for these.

Baby Immunisation

We can offer an appointment with the practice nurse at times to suit you.

Adult Immunisation

By appointment with the practice nurse at times to suit you.

Tetanus

If you have never had a tetanus course or had only part of a course, you should arrange a full course of injections with the nurse. Current guidelines state that you should have five injections to give lifelong protection. However should you suffer a puncture wound i.e. dog bite, that draws blood, and five years have elapsed since your last tetanus injection then you should have a booster.

Flu And Pneumonia Vaccination

Flu vaccine is usually available during October and is recommended for patients in “at risk” categories i.e. people over 65 years of age and patients who suffer from asthma, diabetes, hypertension, heart disease or renal disease. Pneumovax is also recommended for this group of patients but unlike flu vaccine, Pneumovax is only given once and protects for life.

Child Health Surveillance

These routine checks for children under five years are carried out at six weeks and by health visitors thereafter from eight months. If you have any queries contact your health visitor. Minor Operations

Minor surgical procedures may be arranged at the surgery. Ask your doctor if you require further information.

Breast Screening

Jarvis Screening will contact all ladies over 50 years of age for regular three yearly mammography screening. We strongly recommend you accept the invitation for screening.
